Monastiraki puts the flea market, ancient landmarks and a useful metro interchange together. Across Ermou, Psyri changes the mood: workshops, street art, bakeries and bars cluster around Iroon Square. It is an especially good choice when eating and drinking are part of the sightseeing rather than something squeezed in afterwards.
