Axel's take: 5.9/10

Useful location and helpful staff, but inconsistent rooms make this a cautious budget choice. a basic 2-star roadside hotel near I-10, a short drive from downtown, scored for what it is.

This is a basic 2-star roadside hotel near I-10, not a downtown hotel you choose for strolling between sights. Free parking, included breakfast and a short drive to the convention center give it practical appeal. Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, and several recent visitors report clean, comfortable rooms. We'd consider it for a brief, budget-focused stop, but it isn't a dependable first choice.

The problem is consistency: recent reviews on Expedia and Trip.com describe worn rooms, cleaning misses and maintenance issues, alongside much happier stays. Google reviews also raise concerns about loitering around the property. Breakfast is basic, and pets bring an extra fee and cash-deposit requirement. We'd skip it if reliable housekeeping, well-maintained surroundings or a walkable downtown base matter more than keeping costs down.

• Best for: budget travelers with a car; brief interstate stopovers

• Watch out for: uneven cleanliness and room maintenance; reported loitering around the property; pet fees and cash deposit

• Location: Convenient for I-10 and a short drive to the convention center; not a central downtown walking base.

• Rooms: Some guests find beds comfortable, but recent reports describe worn finishes, plumbing problems and musty carpets.

• Cleanliness: Plenty of clean-room reports, but recurring cleaning misses make standards hard to rely on.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling receives mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Included basic breakfast, free Wi-Fi and parking; the confirmed pool is outdoors, not indoors.

• Fees and surprises: Choice lists a nightly pet fee and cash deposit, with a maximum of two pets per room.
