#5 of 9 hotels in Downtown & Fourth Avenue by Axel's take. Downtown & Fourth Avenue is #1 of 6 places to stay in Tucson. The best hotels in Downtown & Fourth Avenue, ranked · Where to stay in Tucson

Axel's take: 7.7/10

Good downtown comfort, but neighboring clubs make quiet nights a gamble. A modern, upper-midrange Marriott hotel in downtown Tucson’s nightlife district, scored for what it is.

AC Hotel Tucson Downtown is a modern, upper-midrange Marriott hotel that works best for travelers who want restaurants, bars and live music within walking distance. Recent Expedia and Hotels.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. The rooftop pool and lobby cocktail lounge add appeal beyond a straightforward business hotel. It’s a good pick for enjoying downtown without driving everywhere.

The catch is substantial: Tripadvisor and Marriott reviewers repeatedly describe nightclub bass continuing until around 2 a.m., especially on weekends. Some guests sleep well, but earplugs and sound machines aren’t a guarantee. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and the pool is better for a quick dip than serious swimming. We’d choose it for nightlife-focused trips and skip it for light sleepers or work visits where reliable rest matters most.

  • Best for: Nightlife-focused weekends; Couples exploring downtown; Travelers prioritizing walkable dining

  • Watch out for: Neighboring nightclub bass until around 2 a.m.; Paid parking and breakfast; Small rooftop pool

  • Location: Walkable downtown setting near restaurants, performance venues, the streetcar and Amtrak.

  • Rooms: Modern rooms and comfortable beds draw praise; nighttime noise exposure varies.

  • Cleanliness: Recent guest feedback is predominantly positive about room cleanliness.

  • Service: Friendly, accommodating front-desk staff are a recurring strength.

  • Amenities: Rooftop outdoor pool, fitness center and cocktail lounge; not a resort-style setup.

  • Fees and surprises: Self-parking, valet and breakfast carry charges; pets also incur a fee.
