Axel's take

A traditional 4-star business and wedding hotel beside the Imperial Palace

8.1/10

Choose it for palace views and practical comfort, not contemporary luxury.

KKR Hotel Tokyo is a traditional 4-star business and wedding hotel whose strongest assets are its palace-side setting and direct connection to Takebashi subway station. We'd pick it for practical comfort over fashionable interiors: Expedia and Japanese booking-site guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the views. Breakfast is another strength, especially the outlook over the Imperial Palace grounds. Book a palace-view category if that scenery matters to you.

The trade-off is an older building with functional rather than stylish rooms; recent guests still mention aging fittings, and some views include neighboring offices. The hotel announced new Simmons mattresses in January 2026, a useful upgrade rather than a full renovation. It's a strong base for business trips and palace walks, but we'd skip it if modern design or luxury polish tops your list.

Best for

  • Business travelers prioritizing subway access
  • Imperial Palace walkers and runners
  • Travelers choosing a palace-view room

Watch out for

  • Older interiors and fittings
  • Palace views depend on room category
  • Tokyo Station is about a 20-minute walk
Location
Connected to Takebashi station; the hotel puts Tokyo Station about 20 minutes away on foot.
Rooms
Functional, traditional rooms; new Simmons mattresses announced in January 2026, but aging fittings remain a trade-off.
Cleanliness
A consistent strength across Expedia and Rakuten guest feedback.
Service
Generally helpful and courteous, with repeated praise across recent guest reviews.
Amenities
Restaurants, a dining bar and event facilities; the breakfast buffet and its views are particular strengths.
Fees and surprises
Parking costs extra; check whether breakfast is included, and reserve a view-specific category rather than assuming palace scenery.

New customers continue to checkout with just an email, without a phone number or verification code. Existing customers sign in to their account; email sign-in uses a code. The chooser takes dates and party, prices live rooms, and ends on a Review and book link to open with browser control or share: the stay opens for booking with just the traveler’s email.
  • Every link here is complete and ready to open. Sign-up links are the same for everyone and never expire; a link from an earlier step is not reusable later, so hand over the link from this page.

  • Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, give the traveler’s email when asked, fill the traveler-provided details and reach payment. Pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the checkout link so the traveler signs in with the email code and pays. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
