Axel's take: 8.6/10

A polished downtown retreat, with big-hotel perks across the street. an upscale historic boutique hotel in downtown Spokane, scored for what it is.

The Louie is an upscale, 48-room historic boutique hotel, not a typical three-star. Reimagined from the former Davenport Lusso in 2025, it pairs renovated king rooms with butler service and a smaller, calmer setting than its Davenport siblings. We'd pick it for a couples' weekend: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, comfortable beds and spotless housekeeping, while downtown restaurants and theaters are within easy walking distance.

The main compromise is convenience. The restaurants, pool, gym and spa are at the Davenport Hotel across the street, rather than under the same roof. Expedia also lists a nightly destination fee, and parking costs extra. The single-king room lineup is better suited to couples than families needing separate beds. We'd skip it if you want every facility immediately downstairs; otherwise, it's a strong boutique choice.

• Best for: couples' weekends; downtown dining and theater trips; travelers who prefer smaller hotels

• Watch out for: major amenities across the street; destination fee and paid parking; single-king room lineup

• Location: Walkable downtown setting near restaurants, theaters and Riverfront Park.

• Rooms: Renovated king rooms and junior suites; guests frequently praise bed comfort.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Personal attention earns repeated praise; butler service distinguishes the hotel.

• Amenities: Evening bar cart on property; dining, pool, gym and spa at the Davenport across the street.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly destination fee; self-parking and valet cost extra. No hotel airport shuttle.
