Axel's take: 5.8/10

Useful suites and helpful staff, but cleanliness and upkeep make this a cautious choice. a no-frills 2-star motel in North Spokane, scored for what it is.

Apple Tree Inn is a no-frills 2-star motel in North Spokane, with some unusually spacious, kitchen-equipped suites. We'd consider it for a budget stop near Whitworth University, not a reliably comfortable getaway. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests often praise helpful staff, and some recent visitors report clean rooms and comfortable beds. Free parking and nearby groceries add practical value.

The drawbacks go beyond dated decor: recent reviews on Trip.com and Travelocity describe stained bedding, smoke smells, dirty surfaces and broken fixtures, alongside happier stays. Road-facing rooms can be noisy, and breakfast is basic. The outdoor pool is listed as closed September 21–May 31; guests also report outages outside that window, so confirm before counting on it. We'd skip it if consistent cleanliness, step-free access or dependable amenities matter most.

• Best for: budget-conscious overnight stops; travelers needing a kitchen-equipped suite

• Watch out for: uneven cleanliness and worn furnishings; smoke smells and road noise; seasonal pool closure and reported outages

• Location: North Spokane near Whitworth, groceries and restaurants; less convenient for downtown sightseeing.

• Rooms: Some large suites have full kitchens; recurring complaints concern worn furnishings, odors and faulty fixtures.

• Cleanliness: Mixed reports: clean rooms earn praise, but recent guests also describe stained bedding and dirty surfaces.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring strength, though problem resolution varies.

• Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi, basic breakfast and laundry; outdoor pool listed closed September 21–May 31.

• Fees and surprises: Refundable deposit and dog fees apply; no elevators, so confirm the exact stair-free route before booking.
