Axel's take: 8.7/10

Go for historic grandeur and comfortable rooms, but expect extra fees. a historic, full-service 4-star in downtown Spokane, scored for what it is.

The Davenport is a historic, full-service 4-star that makes the hotel itself part of a Spokane trip. It’s a strong pick for travelers who prefer ornate public spaces and traditional character to minimalist design. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the comfortable beds, welcoming staff and downtown location near restaurants, shopping and Riverfront Park. The Peacock Room Lounge, indoor pool and on-site spa give you reasons to linger rather than simply sleep here.

The main reservations are housekeeping consistency and added charges. Overall cleanliness ratings remain strong, but several guests describe missed cleaning or overlooked bathroom details—disappointing at this level. A daily destination amenity fee and paid parking also weaken the value. We’d choose it for a characterful weekend or celebration, but skip it if you want a straightforward, fee-light stay with reliably seamless service.

• Best for: couples celebrating an occasion; historic-hotel enthusiasts; downtown sightseeing on foot

• Watch out for: daily destination amenity fee; paid self-parking and valet; occasional housekeeping lapses

• Location: Walkable downtown base for dining, shopping, theaters and Riverfront Park; no hotel airport shuttle.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and spacious rooms draw praise; Marriott currently advertises renovated rooms.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, tempered by repeated reports of missed cleaning and bathroom oversights.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a frequent highlight, though housekeeping coordination can fall short.

• Amenities: Heated indoor pool, hot tub, full-service spa, 24-hour gym, restaurants and cocktail lounges.

• Fees and surprises: Daily amenity fee, with a stated waiver for Marriott Gold and above; parking, breakfast and dogs cost extra.
