Pullman Shanghai Central is an established five-star business hotel that makes a strong sightseeing base without delivering Shanghai’s sharpest luxury experience. Its biggest advantages are generous rooms, nearby Dapuqiao metro access and easy access to Tianzifang. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the space, cleanliness and helpful staff; breakfast also earns plenty of compliments. We’d choose it for comfortable city exploring rather than a hotel-centered escape.

The trade-off is age: recent Expedia and Accor guests mention tired room details, bathroom maintenance and occasionally weak shower pressure. Service is generally a strength, but breakfast-room attentiveness is less consistent. Those shortcomings matter at five-star level, even with an indoor pool and gym.
