Axel's take: 9.0/10

An excellent practical base in Jing’an, with thoughtful extras rather than luxury. a modern, limited-service 4-star in central Jing’an, scored for what it is.

This modern, limited-service 4-star is a strong pick for travelers who want central Shanghai without paying for luxury trimmings. Trip.com and Booking.com guests consistently praise clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff, while Expedia’s overall feedback is similarly strong. Included breakfast, free self-service laundry and round-the-clock lobby coffee make it particularly practical for longer stays. The surrounding cafés, restaurants and shopping add to its appeal.

The main compromise is that central does not mean metro-doorstep: guests commonly describe a 10–15-minute walk to a station. Some also mention weak soundproofing or slamming doors, although these are outweighed by positive reports. Breakfast leans toward Chinese dishes, and the gym is small. Check the room description carefully if daylight matters, since some categories do not guarantee windows. We’d skip it for full-service luxury or effortless station access.

• Best for: independent city explorers; business travelers; longer stays with laundry needs

• Watch out for: 10–15-minute walk to the metro; some reports of door and corridor noise; windows not guaranteed in every room category

• Location: Central Jing’an, convenient for dining, shopping and the Shanghai Exhibition Center, but not directly beside a metro station.

• Rooms: Modern, comfortable rooms; check window availability and consider requesting a quieter room.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Trip.com and Expedia guest feedback.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise, including for resolving room issues.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, free self-service laundry, lobby coffee and a small gym; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: IHG confirms complimentary parking, but spaces are limited; some room categories may lack windows.
