Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong riverfront base, with a better location than rooms. A large, full-service 4-star hotel on Savannah’s riverfront, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Regency Savannah is a large, full-service 4-star whose strongest selling point is its riverfront location. It’s a strong pick for exploring the historic district on foot, especially if you book a river-view room. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the convenient setting, comfortable beds, cleanliness and friendly staff. An indoor heated pool, gym and on-site restaurant round out a practical stay rather than a boutique experience.

The trade-offs are dated furnishings in some rooms, small bathrooms in certain layouts and noise that can reach atrium-facing rooms from the lounge. Check the room’s outlook carefully: not every window faces outdoors. A daily destination fee and costly valet parking also weaken the value. We’d skip it for a quiet, intimate getaway, but choose it for sightseeing convenience and river views.

• Best for: First-time Savannah sightseers; Travelers booking river-view rooms; Families wanting an indoor pool

• Watch out for: Noise in atrium-facing rooms; Some dated rooms and small bathrooms; Daily destination fee and expensive valet

• Location: Riverfront setting with convenient walking access to River Street, restaurants and historic-district sights.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable; condition, bathroom size and outlook vary, so confirm the room category.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, including high Expedia cleanliness ratings and repeated recent praise.

• Service: Usually friendly and helpful, though some guests report inconsistent front-desk or valet experiences.

• Amenities: Indoor heated pool, fitness center, Moss + Oak restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi.

• Fees and surprises: Daily destination fee and paid valet; new owners announced room upgrades in July 2026, without a confirmed construction schedule.
