Axel's take: 8.9/10

Distinctive Brazilian design and warm service make Pulso a strong boutique-luxury choice. a design-led luxury boutique hotel in Pinheiros, scored for what it is.

Pulso is a design-led luxury boutique hotel in Pinheiros, and we'd choose it for Brazilian character rather than grand-hotel formality. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise the comfortable beds, cleanliness and genuinely attentive staff. Breakfast earns plenty of enthusiasm, particularly the pastries. The indoor pool, L’Occitane spa and well-equipped gym give it substance beyond the interiors, while the location suits Faria Lima business trips and exploring Pinheiros.

The trade-offs are mostly about space and expectations. Entry-level Deluxe rooms measure 32 square meters, and some guests find them compact for luxury accommodation. A few Tripadvisor reviews describe slow restaurant service, although dining feedback is predominantly positive. Valet parking and pets cost extra, and saunas require reservations. We'd skip it if sprawling rooms or maximum space for the money matter more than design and personal service.

• Best for: design-minded couples; Faria Lima business travelers; travelers exploring Pinheiros

• Watch out for: compact entry-level rooms for the luxury class; occasional restaurant delays; paid valet parking and pet fees

• Location: Pinheiros base near Faria Lima, neighborhood dining and metro connections.

• Rooms: Deluxe rooms are 32 square meters; 64-square-meter suites offer substantially more space.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff are widely praised; restaurant timing draws occasional criticism.

• Amenities: Indoor heated pool, L’Occitane spa, 24-hour gym and reservation-only saunas.

• Fees and surprises: Restaurant breakfast is included; breakfast via room service, valet parking and small dogs incur extra charges.
