Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical Jardins base with friendly staff, but very little room to spare. a no-frills 2-star hotel in Jardins, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star is a good pick for a short São Paulo stay when location matters more than space. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and nearby shopping and restaurants. Renovations have refreshed rooms and social areas, while Sponta Pizza Bar and a 24-hour convenience shop make the basics easier. We'd choose it as a straightforward base, not somewhere to spend much downtime.

The main compromise is the roughly 12-square-meter room: luggage space is tight, especially with three guests. Noise from neighboring rooms, corridors and traffic also recurs across reviews, so light sleepers should look elsewhere. Breakfast and parking cost extra unless included in your booking, and minibars depend on room category. We'd skip it for longer stays or if generous space and reliable quiet are priorities.

• Best for: budget-conscious solo travelers; short business trips; couples traveling light

• Watch out for: very compact rooms, especially for three; thin walls and traffic noise; breakfast and parking can cost extra

• Location: Handy for Jardins restaurants and Shopping Jardim Pamplona; the metro is a walk rather than next door.

• Rooms: Most listed categories are about 12 square meters; renovated options exist, and minibar availability varies.

• Cleanliness: Recent guests generally praise clean rooms, despite occasional housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception and housekeeping staff are recurring strengths.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, Sponta Pizza Bar, optional breakfast and a 24-hour convenience shop.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; valet parking and pets carry additional charges.
