Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical Moema base, with good breakfast but uneven room upkeep. A no-frills 3-star hotel in walkable Moema, scored for what it is.

Fênix Moema is a no-frills 3-star whose strongest asset is its neighborhood: restaurants, bakeries and a supermarket are close, and Moema metro is within walking distance. It's a good-value base if you'll spend most of your time out. Booking.com and Expedia guests generally praise the location, breakfast and helpful staff; air-conditioned rooms, minibars and included Wi-Fi cover the basics.

The compromise is upkeep rather than a lack of luxury. Recent Expedia reviews repeatedly mention aging fittings and faults with plumbing, air-conditioning or room equipment, although many others report clean, comfortable stays. Tripadvisor's weaker feedback reinforces the need for modest expectations. Parking costs extra and spaces are not guaranteed. We'd choose it for a short, practical stay, but skip it if consistently fresh rooms and reliably working fixtures are priorities.

• Best for: Budget-conscious Moema visitors; Short business trips; Travelers who prioritize nearby dining

• Watch out for: Dated rooms and uneven maintenance; Some reports of room odors; Paid parking subject to availability

• Location: Restaurants and everyday shops nearby; the hotel lists Moema metro about 700 meters away.

• Rooms: Air-conditioning, minibars and blackout curtains; recent guests report recurring equipment and plumbing faults.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, with some recent complaints about dust, odors and linens.

• Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise, but reception and problem handling are inconsistent.

• Amenities: Included breakfast and Wi-Fi, 24-hour reception, laundry and luggage storage.

• Fees and surprises: Private parking is charged separately and subject to space availability.
