The Playce is now Glint Paris, a budget hostel-hotel hybrid officially inaugurated on September 22, 2026 after conversion. Don't book expecting the former four-star hotel: today's setup mixes shared dorms, private group rooms and compact doubles. We'd consider it for a practical Paris base. Recent Expedia, Hostelworld and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise comfortable mattresses, clean bathrooms and easy metro access; dorm curtains and individual storage are useful touches.

The biggest compromise is the Barbès setting: convenient for transport and Montmartre, but several recent guests describe feeling uncomfortable outside at night. Hostelworld and Trip.com reviews also suggest this isn't a reliably sociable hostel, and towels and padlocks can cost extra.
