#6 of 6 hotels in Downtown by Axel's take. Downtown is #2 of 5 places to stay in Palm Springs. The best hotels in Downtown, ranked · Where to stay in Palm Springs

Axel's take: 6.8/10

Book for downtown convenience and roomy suites, not polished four-star comfort. An aging, all-suite 4-star hotel in downtown Palm Springs, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Palm Springs is an aging, all-suite 4-star whose strongest selling point is its downtown address. We'd consider it for a location-first trip: restaurants and shops are walkable, suites have separate sitting areas, and guests repeatedly praise the space and helpful staff. The heated outdoor pool and hot tub round out a practical base for exploring.

The catch is condition rather than room size. Recent Expedia and Hyatt-hosted reviews repeatedly describe worn furnishings and overdue updating; some also report housekeeping misses, plumbing problems and weak air-conditioning. Plenty of guests still report clean, comfortable stays, but consistency falls short of four-star expectations. A daily resort fee and separate parking charges add friction. We'd skip it if fresh interiors and dependable upkeep matter more than being central.

  • Best for: Location-first downtown weekends; Travelers prioritizing suite space

  • Watch out for: Dated furnishings and uneven maintenance; Inconsistent housekeeping and air-conditioning; Daily resort fee and paid parking

  • Location: Central Palm Canyon Drive address, with restaurants, shops and bars within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Spacious suites with separate sitting areas; recent guests repeatedly flag worn furnishings and maintenance issues.

  • Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but repeated recent housekeeping complaints make consistency a concern.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength, though problem resolution is uneven.

  • Amenities: Hyatt lists a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, 24-hour gym and on-site dining.

  • Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee and separate self-parking charges; pet fees also apply.
