Axel's take: 8.6/10

Excellent resort facilities and dependable comfort, but renovations make room placement important. a sprawling upscale 4-star convention and golf resort, scored for what it is.

Rosen Shingle Creek is a sprawling upscale 4-star convention and golf resort that delivers particularly well on cleanliness, spacious rooms and friendly service. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise those basics, while four outdoor pools, an 18-hole golf course and extensive dining give you plenty of reasons to stay on property. It's a strong pick for conference trips or combining Universal visits with proper pool time.

The main caveat is the room, corridor and event-space renovation underway through 2027; a September 2026 guest reported disruptive construction noise. Request a renovated room away from active work, and confirm conditions before booking. There's no resort fee, but parking and gym access cost extra. We'd skip it for a small, walkable hotel experience: the grounds are enormous, and eating elsewhere generally means arranging transport.

• Best for: conference attendees; golfers and pool-focused families; Universal visitors comfortable using shuttles

• Watch out for: renovations continuing through 2027; parking and gym charges; large grounds and limited off-site walkability

• Location: Convenient for Universal and the convention district; scheduled park shuttles help, but this isn't a walkable neighborhood base.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable; the ongoing renovation means room condition and proximity to work can vary.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest reviews, including strong praise for rooms and bathrooms.

• Service: Recent guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, helpful front-desk service and responsive maintenance.

• Amenities: Four outdoor pools, championship golf, a spa and extensive dining; fitness-center access carries a charge.

• Fees and surprises: No resort fee and complimentary Wi-Fi; parking and gym access are extra, with major renovations underway.
