Axel's take: 6.4/10

Useful for downtown events, but maintenance problems make this a compromise. an aging 3-star downtown hotel near Norfolk Scope, scored for what it is.

This aging 3-star in Norfolk’s NEON District makes most sense for a short, practical stay near Norfolk Scope and Chrysler Hall. We'd consider it for the location and spacious rooms, not for a polished hotel experience. Expedia guests frequently praise helpful staff and clean, comfortable accommodations, but its overall rating and Booking.com’s are only middling.

The sticking point is upkeep. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly report elevator outages, while dated bathrooms, hallway odors and inconsistent housekeeping temper the positives. Guests also reported ongoing renovations in summer 2026; confirm the current disruption and elevator situation before booking. The outdoor pool is seasonal and currently closed, with Expedia listing closure from September 4 through May 24. Parking and breakfast cost extra. We'd skip it if reliable elevator access or consistently well-maintained surroundings matter more than proximity to an event.

• Best for: Norfolk Scope and Chrysler Hall visitors; Short downtown stays

• Watch out for: Repeated elevator outages; Renovations reported in summer 2026; Seasonal pool closure

• Location: Convenient for Scope, Chrysler Hall and the NEON arts district; not directly on the waterfront.

• Rooms: Spacious accommodations, but recent guests still describe dated bathrooms and uneven maintenance.

• Cleanliness: Many guests praise clean rooms; hallway odors and housekeeping gaps recur in negative reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a frequent strength, though follow-through is inconsistent.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, gym, restaurant and seasonal outdoor pool; do not expect an indoor pool or spa.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast are extra; an incidental deposit and pet fees apply.
