Axel's take: 7.3/10

A practical airport stop with friendly staff, but uneven room upkeep. a no-frills airport-area chain hotel, scored for what it is.

This no-frills airport-area chain hotel is a reasonable pick for a short stay, not a Virginia Beach seaside vacation. Its strongest selling points are useful basics: free parking, included breakfast, roomy accommodations and proximity to Norfolk Airport. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and welcoming staff; Tripadvisor also has enthusiastic reports about helpful employees and breakfast. We'd consider it for an overnight before a flight, particularly with a car.

The trade-off is inconsistent upkeep. Recent guests describe worn bathrooms and minor maintenance faults, while several Tripadvisor reviewers report missed housekeeping or difficulty getting fresh towels. Those complaints don't define every stay, but they make longer visits less appealing. The hotel advertises an indoor heated pool, though shuttle information conflicts across listings—confirm transportation directly. A mandatory refundable credit-card deposit also deserves attention. We'd skip it for a beach-focused holiday or reliably polished rooms.

• Best for: airport stopovers with a car; budget-conscious families needing extra room

• Watch out for: uneven maintenance and housekeeping; confirm airport shuttle availability; mandatory refundable credit-card deposit

• Location: In Virginia Beach near Norfolk Airport and the outlets; better for drivers than beach-focused stays.

• Rooms: Space is a strength, but guests report worn bathrooms, occasional faulty fittings and some tired mattresses.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is largely positive; Tripadvisor shows uneven cleaning and room servicing.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn frequent praise, although some guests report unhelpful responses to requests.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, free parking, Wi-Fi, a gym and an advertised indoor heated pool cover the basics.

• Fees and surprises: A refundable credit-card deposit is mandatory; the official site's shuttle schedule is unusually limited, so call ahead.
