Axel's take: 8.6/10

Spacious suites and helpful staff make this a strong airport base. A practical 3-star all-suite airport hotel built for longer stays, scored for what it is.

This 3-star all-suite hotel is a strong pick for airport stopovers and longer stays when space matters more than full-service extras. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, roomy accommodations, helpful staff and the included breakfast. In-room kitchens make settling in easier, while Hilton confirms an indoor pool, fitness center and guest laundry. We'd choose it for practical comfort rather than a vacation atmosphere.

The main catch is transportation: despite the airport name, Hilton offers no airport shuttle, and parking now carries a daily charge, contrary to some booking listings. Downtown Norfolk is a drive away, so we'd skip it for a car-free sightseeing trip. Pet owners should also factor in a nonrefundable fee. For families and longer-stay travelers with their own transport, the useful extras add up well.

• Best for: Families wanting extra space; Longer-stay travelers; Airport stopovers with transport arranged

• Watch out for: No airport shuttle; Daily parking charge; Nonrefundable pet fee

• Location: Off I-64 near Norfolk Airport; better suited to drivers than car-free sightseeing.

• Rooms: Spacious suites with in-room kitchens; recent guests frequently praise comfort and layout.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Helpful, accommodating staff are a repeated highlight across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, indoor pool, fitness center and guest laundry.

• Fees and surprises: Hilton confirms paid parking and no airport shuttle; pet fees apply despite some outdated listings.
