Axel's take: 7.0/10

A practical airport stop with friendly staff, but housekeeping needs more consistency. A budget, motel-style 3-star near Norfolk airport, scored for what it is.

Best Western Center Inn is a budget, motel-style 3-star in Virginia Beach’s airport corridor, not near the oceanfront. It’s a reasonable pick for a short, practical stay: free parking, hot breakfast and in-room refrigerators cover the basics. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise friendly staff and comfortable beds, although the overall guest verdict is more good-than-great.

The main reservation is inconsistent housekeeping. Alongside clean-room reports, recent guests describe gritty floors, bathroom hair and missed cleaning; these complaints recur rather than appearing as a single outlier. Rooms have exterior entrances, and there’s no elevator. The outdoor pool is seasonal, listed as open May through September—not an indoor, year-round facility. We’d consider it for an airport overnight, but skip it for a beach-centered holiday or reliably spotless surroundings.

• Best for: Airport overnights; Budget travelers with a car; Short business or military visits

• Watch out for: Inconsistent floor and bathroom cleaning; Exterior corridors and no elevator; Outdoor pool listed as May–September only

• Location: Virginia Beach’s airport corridor suits regional errands by car, rather than an oceanfront holiday.

• Rooms: Simple, exterior-entry rooms with refrigerators; comfortable beds receive repeated praise.

• Cleanliness: Many positive reports, but recent guests repeatedly flag dirty floors and bathroom hair.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength, though some requests go unanswered.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking; the outdoor pool operates seasonally.

• Fees and surprises: A refundable incidental deposit is listed; early check-in and late checkout can cost extra.
