#6 of 9 hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or by Axel's take. Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or is #2 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong seafront choice for historic character, though rooms vary in size and freshness. a historic 4-star hotel on Nice’s Promenade des Anglais, scored for what it is.

West End is a historic 4-star on the Promenade des Anglais, best chosen for its waterfront setting and traditional character rather than uniformly modern rooms. We’d shortlist it for a Nice city break, especially with a confirmed sea-view room. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the location, breakfast and helpful staff, while cleanliness is generally a strength. Restaurants, shopping and the beach are within easy walking reach.

The trade-off is consistency: smaller rooms and tired décor recur in reviews, and some guests describe disappointing problem handling. Lower seafront rooms can catch nighttime traffic noise. Blue Beach is a paid partner beach club across the road, not an included private beach; parking is in a nearby public garage. We’d skip it if you want contemporary finishes throughout or dependable peace and quiet.

  • Best for: couples booking sea-view rooms; walkable Nice city breaks; travelers who enjoy historic hotels

  • Watch out for: variable room sizes and dated décor; traffic noise in some seafront rooms; extra charges for beach-club access and parking

  • Location: Promenade frontage, opposite the beach, with restaurants, shops and central sights accessible on foot.

  • Rooms: Sea views are a highlight; room dimensions and decorative condition vary considerably by category.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well rated, with recent guests frequently praising clean rooms.

  • Service: Mostly friendly and helpful, but several recent reviews describe uneven complaint handling.

  • Amenities: Le Siècle restaurant, bars, buffet breakfast and paid access to partner Blue Beach.

  • Fees and surprises: Nearby public-garage parking costs extra; check breakfast inclusion and expect a separate tourist tax.
