#6 of 9 hotels in Gare Thiers & Musiciens by Axel's take. Gare Thiers & Musiciens is #5 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Gare Thiers & Musiciens, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A friendly, characterful base for rail trips, with compact rooms rather than luxury. a small 4-star boutique hotel near Nice-Ville station, scored for what it is.

Villa Otero is a small 4-star boutique hotel near Nice-Ville station, and we'd pick it for a sightseeing break rather than a luxury escape. Its Belle Époque-inspired interiors have character, while Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, comfortable beds and cleanliness. Complimentary lobby coffee, tea and water are thoughtful extras, especially after a day exploring the Riviera by train.

The main compromise is space: standard rooms are listed at 16 square meters, and small bathrooms crop up in guest feedback. Some Trip.com guests also find the furnishings more dated than the photographs suggest. This is a station-side base, not a beachfront hotel, so expect a walk to the promenade and Old Town. It's a strong pick for active couples and rail travelers; we'd skip it if spacious rooms or polished luxury are priorities.

  • Best for: Riviera day trips by train; Couples on sightseeing breaks; Travelers who value friendly service

  • Watch out for: Compact standard rooms and bathrooms; Some furnishings show their age; Not on the beachfront

  • Location: Handy for Nice-Ville station; the promenade and Old Town require a longer walk.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned, characterful rooms; standards are 16 square meters, superiors 20.

  • Cleanliness: Generally a strength across recent guest feedback, despite occasional lapses.

  • Service: Warm, helpful reception staff are the most consistent source of praise.

  • Amenities: Breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi, round-the-clock reception and complimentary lobby hot drinks.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra unless included; small pets incur a supplement and a weight restriction.
