#2 of 9 hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or by Axel's take. Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or is #2 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong luxury pick for art, attentive service and Riviera grandeur. a historic, art-filled 5-star on Nice’s seafront, scored for what it is.

Le Negresco is a historic, art-filled 5-star on the Promenade des Anglais, and we'd choose it for character over conventional luxury. Its extraordinary collection makes the public spaces part of the attraction, while recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, clean rooms and sea views. N Le Spa, with its indoor pool, adds substance beyond the famous façade. It's a strong choice for a celebratory Nice stay.

The key is choosing your room carefully: interiors are individually decorated, and courtyard rooms don't deliver the Riviera outlook. The ornate period styling won't suit minimalists. Service feedback is overwhelmingly positive, though occasional housekeeping lapses suggest execution isn't flawless. N La Plage is seasonal—the hotel lists May through September—so don't assume a beach-club stay year-round. We'd skip it if uniform contemporary rooms matter more than art and history.

  • Best for: art and architecture lovers; special-occasion couples; travelers who enjoy grand historic hotels

  • Watch out for: room styles and outlooks vary; seasonal beach club; parking and breakfast can cost extra

  • Location: On the Promenade des Anglais, across from the beach and within walking distance of the old town.

  • Rooms: Individually decorated period interiors; recent guests generally praise comfort, space and sea-view categories.

  • Cleanliness: Strong ratings across Booking.com and Expedia, with occasional housekeeping-detail complaints on Tripadvisor.

  • Service: Warm welcomes and attentive staff are consistent strengths; isolated lapses keep it short of flawless.

  • Amenities: N Le Spa has an indoor pool, sauna and hammam; dining, fitness facilities and seasonal N La Plage broaden the offering.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on your booking; parking, transfers and pets carry charges, and Booking.com lists an arrival damage deposit.
