#4 of 4 hotels in Vieux Nice (Old Town) by Axel's take. Vieux Nice (Old Town) is #4 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Vieux Nice (Old Town), ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.3/10

Choose it for the bay views and Old Town access, not spacious luxury. A small 4-star seafront hotel beside Nice’s Old Town, scored for what it is.

Hôtel Suisse is a small 4-star seafront hotel whose strongest selling point is its panorama across Nice’s bay. It’s a strong pick for couples who want the beach and Old Town within easy walking distance. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, welcoming staff and sea-view balconies. We’d choose a balcony category: the setting does more to distinguish this hotel than the rooms themselves.

The trade-off is space. Rooms and the lift are compact, and some guests find the accommodation fairly basic for four stars. Traffic is audible with balcony doors open, although recent guests say closed doors insulate well. Check the category carefully: the hotel’s three Standard rooms have no view and windows that cannot open. Breakfast can cost extra, and parking is off-site. Skip it if you need spacious accommodation or accessible facilities; the hotel explicitly says it lacks reduced-mobility access.

  • Best for: Couples booking a sea-view balcony; Old Town sightseeing on foot; Short scenic city breaks

  • Watch out for: Compact rooms and lift; Standard rooms lack views and opening windows; No reduced-mobility access

  • Location: Overlooks the bay beside Castle Hill, with the beach and Old Town close by.

  • Rooms: Compact and air-conditioned; book the exact sea-view or balcony category you want.

  • Cleanliness: Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise housekeeping and clean rooms.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are a recurring strength, despite occasional contrary reports.

  • Amenities: Breakfast room, bar, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; not a full-service resort.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may be extra; nearby public parking is paid and off-site.
