Axel's take: 7.8/10

Book it for walkable Nice, but choose your room carefully. a historic 4-star at the edge of Nice’s Old Town, scored for what it is.

Beau Rivage is a historic 4-star at the edge of Nice’s Old Town: a good city-break base rather than a luxury retreat. The beach, Cours Saleya and restaurants are close, and Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the location and helpful staff. We’d favor a courtyard-facing Premium room; the hotel’s collection announced these fully renovated rooms in May 2026.

The trade-off is uneven room condition. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests describe worn carpets, bathroom drainage problems and occasional weak air-conditioning alongside plenty of comfortable stays. Beach-club loungers cost extra unless your package includes them, and partner parking needs reserving. An October 2026 guest also reported noisy road construction outside; check whether it has finished. It’s a strong pick for exploring without a car, but we’d skip it for uniformly polished rooms or resort-style ease.

  • Best for: car-free city breaks; couples combining sightseeing and beach time; travelers choosing renovated Premium rooms

  • Watch out for: uneven room condition and cooling; extra charges for beach loungers; street noise and recently reported roadworks

  • Location: Excellent for walking between the Old Town, Cours Saleya and the seafront; the beach club is separate from the hotel.

  • Rooms: Renovated Premium rooms look the safer choice; older rooms attract recurring maintenance complaints.

  • Cleanliness: Generally rated well, though several recent guests flag stained or tired carpets.

  • Service: Friendly, accommodating staff are a consistent strength across booking sites.

  • Amenities: Bar, planted patio, buffet breakfast and a nearby beach-club restaurant; more city hotel than resort.

  • Fees and surprises: Loungers usually cost extra; paid partner parking requires reservation. Roadworks were reported outside in October 2026.
