#1 of 9 hotels in Place Masséna & Jean Médecin by Axel's take. Place Masséna & Jean Médecin is #1 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Place Masséna & Jean Médecin, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 9.2/10

An excellent central base with thoughtful studios and helpful staff, but stairs are unavoidable. a colorful 3-star aparthotel in central Nice, scored for what it is.

AMMI Nice Lafayette is a small 3-star aparthotel that delivers unusually well on the basics: clean studios, useful kitchenettes and genuinely helpful service. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff’s local advice, comfortable rooms and walkable location near Place Masséna. We’d put it high on the list for an independent city break: Old Nice, shops and the seafront are easy to reach without a car.

The biggest catch is access: roughly 30 stairs and no elevator make this a poor choice for anyone with mobility limitations. Choose your studio carefully, too; the smallest categories are compact, and a balcony is not standard. Some guests mention street noise, so light sleepers should request a courtyard-facing room. Breakfast is served in-room for an extra charge, and parking is off-site.

  • Best for: couples exploring Nice on foot; travelers who want a kitchenette; small families booking larger studios

  • Watch out for: 30 stairs with no elevator; compact entry-level studios; possible street noise

  • Location: Central, near Place Masséna and the tram; beaches are about eight minutes away on foot.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned studios with kitchenettes; smaller categories start at 15 square meters, and balconies depend on category.

  • Cleanliness: Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise clean, well-kept rooms.

  • Service: Helpful staff and local recommendations are recurring highlights across guest reviews.

  • Amenities: Kitchenettes, free Wi-Fi, self-service laundry and an honesty bar; breakfast is served in-room.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and off-site parking cost extra; arrange late-arrival access instructions in advance.
