#4 of 9 hotels in Gare Thiers & Musiciens by Axel's take. Gare Thiers & Musiciens is #5 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Gare Thiers & Musiciens, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A practical Riviera base with friendly staff, but cramped dorms. A budget hostel near Nice-Ville station, with dorms and private rooms, scored for what it is.

Ozz is a budget hostel, not a conventional hotel, and we'd pick it for train-based exploring rather than beachfront lounging. Nice-Ville station is a few minutes away; the beach takes roughly 15–20 minutes on foot. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and cleanliness. Air-conditioned dorms have privacy curtains, lockers and en-suite bathrooms, while private doubles offer an alternative to sharing.

The main compromise is space: several recent guests describe tight dorms, and some rooms have awkward triple-tier bunks. Don't count on a full guest kitchen, and budget for towel rental if booking a dorm. The bar and games provide opportunities to mingle, but recent reports suggest a fairly low-key atmosphere rather than a reliable party scene. We'd skip it if spacious rooms or cooking facilities matter most.

  • Best for: Solo travelers on a budget; Riviera day trips by train; Friends comfortable sharing a dorm

  • Watch out for: Small dorms and some triple-tier bunks; No full guest kitchen; Dorm towels cost extra

  • Location: Very handy for Nice-Ville station; walkable to the center, but not beachfront.

  • Rooms: Curtained bunks, lockers and en-suite bathrooms; limited floor space is a recurring complaint.

  • Cleanliness: Broadly positive across sites, though an October 2026 Hostelworld guest reports pests and poor cleaning—an isolated report in the evidence reviewed.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength; reception operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, bar, games and paid breakfast; Hostelworld explicitly lists no kitchen.

  • Fees and surprises: Dorm towels rent separately; bring a padlock. Hostelworld lists a card deposit, and Expedia lists city tax.
