#9 of 9 hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or by Axel's take. Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or is #2 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical pick for space and location, not resort facilities or four-star polish. a 4-star apartment hotel in central Nice, not a full-service resort, scored for what it is.

Goldstar is a 4-star apartment hotel in Nice’s Carré d’Or, better chosen for space and independence than resort service. It’s a good base for families: kitchenettes make simple meals possible, the beach is a short walk away, and trams and the main station are within walking distance. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the roomy accommodation, cleanliness and helpful reception staff.

The trade-off is a dated property with fewer services than its name suggests. The former rooftop pool is no longer available, breakfast is served across the street at the Brice Garden Hotel, and daily housekeeping is not standard. Poor Wi-Fi recurs across recent reviews, while some guests flag tired furnishings and maintenance issues. We’d choose it for a self-catering city break, but skip it for remote work or a polished, full-service four-star stay.

  • Best for: families needing extra space; self-catering city breaks; sightseeing without a car

  • Watch out for: former rooftop pool no longer available; unreliable Wi-Fi; no standard daily housekeeping

  • Location: Central Carré d’Or, a short walk from the beach, airport tram and main railway station.

  • Rooms: Spacious suites and apartments with kitchenettes; dated furnishings and occasional maintenance complaints.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well rated, but the residence operates without standard daily cleaning.

  • Service: Helpful reception staff earn consistent praise across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

  • Amenities: No pool; breakfast is offered at the Brice Garden Hotel opposite rather than on site.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; tourist tax is payable on arrival, and guests must leave the kitchen basically clean.
