#4 of 9 hotels in Place Masséna & Jean Médecin by Axel's take. Place Masséna & Jean Médecin is #1 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Place Masséna & Jean Médecin, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong central base with standout staff, though rooms can feel compact. a comfortable 3-star city-center hotel near Nice-Ville station, scored for what it is.

Lakmi is a comfortable 3-star in Nice’s main shopping district, and a strong pick for exploring without a car. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming reception team, clean rooms and generous breakfast, especially the fresh orange juice. Booking.com’s ratings reinforce that picture, with staff and location its strongest categories. Nice-Ville station, trams, the old town and the seafront are all within walking reach; balcony rooms add a pleasant city outlook.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: classic rooms are compact, and some guests mention street or tram noise, although others find the double glazing effective. Parking costs extra, with just six hotel spaces that cannot be reserved. This is a sightseeing base rather than a beachfront retreat. We’d skip it if spacious rooms or reliably quiet surroundings matter more than central convenience.

  • Best for: couples on a city break; car-free Riviera explorers; travelers who value friendly service

  • Watch out for: compact classic rooms; possible street and tram noise; limited, nonreservable paid parking

  • Location: Central shopping-district setting, convenient for trams, Nice-Ville station and walking to the old town.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned; classic doubles are roughly 14–17 square meters, with balcony categories available.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently positive across Booking.com, Tripadvisor and recent Expedia reviews.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are the clearest recurring strength.

  • Amenities: Well-liked buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, lounge and 24-hour reception; beach access is through a seasonal partner.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; parking is extra and limited to six nonreservable spaces; a card preauthorization applies.
