#7 of 9 hotels in Quartier Latin & the Village by Axel's take. Quartier Latin & the Village is #5 of 6 places to stay in Montreal. The best hotels in Quartier Latin & the Village, ranked · Where to stay in Montreal

Axel's take: 6.5/10

Handy for the metro, but inconsistent upkeep makes this a qualified budget pick. A budget, self-check-in aparthotel in Montreal’s Latin Quarter, scored for what it is.

Clouds Lofts is a budget, self-check-in aparthotel, not a staffed hotel or backpacker hostel. Its strongest argument is location: Berri-UQAM metro is a short walk away, with restaurants and Sainte-Catherine Street nearby. Guest feedback includes plenty of praise for clean, functional rooms, comfortable beds and useful kitchenettes, though not every room has cooking facilities. It can work for an independent, short city break.

The catch is consistency. Recent guests repeatedly describe unanswered messages, maintenance faults and difficulty getting fresh towels or supplies; cleanliness feedback also varies. Several report concerns about entrance locks, which deserve attention rather than dismissal. There’s no elevator or staffed reception to smooth things out. We’d skip it if you need reliable hands-on service, step-free access or a predictably polished stay.

  • Best for: Independent budget travelers; Short, transit-focused city breaks; Travelers booking a kitchenette room

  • Watch out for: Remote support can be unresponsive; Uneven cleaning, maintenance and entrance-lock reports; Stairs only; some basement rooms

  • Location: Convenient for Berri-UQAM and Latin Quarter dining; some guests find the immediate surroundings uncomfortable.

  • Rooms: Functional but variable in size and condition; confirm kitchenette availability and whether the room is below ground.

  • Cleanliness: Many guests praise clean rooms, but recent reports of odors, dirty towels and missed cleaning prevent a confident endorsement.

  • Service: Virtual reception only; recurring complaints concern unanswered messages and delayed help.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and guest laundry; no elevator or on-site parking.

  • Fees and surprises: Complete online registration and obtain entry codes before arrival; confirm cleaning and towel-replacement arrangements.
