Axel's take

A basic 3-star downtown hotel beside Berri-UQAM

5.3/10

Convenient for the metro, but unreliable basics make this hard to recommend.

Lelux is a basic 3-star downtown hotel whose strongest selling point is easy access to Berri-UQAM and the Latin Quarter. Some Expedia and Trip.com guests praise spacious, clean rooms and helpful staff, but the overall picture falls below what a simple hotel should deliver. Booking.com and Expedia ratings sit in the mid-sixes, while Tripadvisor is markedly worse. We'd treat it as a compromise, not a dependable budget pick.

The biggest concern is repeated reporting of nonworking air conditioning across several sites, including August–September 2026 stays. Dated bathrooms, uneven cleanliness and frustrating complaint or refund handling also recur. Breakfast is basic, parking costs extra, and a damage deposit is required. We'd skip it for families or anyone who needs reliable room comfort; even for a short stay, confirm the air conditioning before booking.

Best for

short, transit-focused stays
budget travelers accepting substantial trade-offs

Watch out for

repeated air-conditioning failures
dated rooms and uneven cleanliness
difficult complaint and refund handling

Location: A short walk from Berri-UQAM, UQAM and Sainte-Catherine Street.
Rooms: Some spacious rooms, but dated fittings, street noise and recurring air-conditioning problems.
Cleanliness: Mixed: clean-room praise sits alongside repeated reports of dirty carpets and poorly maintained spaces.
Service: Helpful staff receive praise, but problem resolution and refund handling repeatedly disappoint.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, a gym and continental breakfast; guests often find breakfast underwhelming.
Fees and surprises: Paid indoor parking and a required damage deposit; recent guests describe a tight garage.

Next: give the traveler the Sign up free to book link on the stay that fits. For other dates, give them this link to check Lelux Hotel; Axel asks for dates.
