Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong Old Montreal base if you prefer apartment comforts to traditional hotel service. a design-forward, self-service aparthotel in Old Montreal, scored for what it is.

David is a design-forward, self-service aparthotel in Old Montreal, and a strong pick for travelers who want space and independence. Full kitchens and in-room washers and dryers make longer stays practical. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and walkable location; recent reviews also describe helpful, responsive support. We'd choose it for apartment-style convenience rather than a conventional four-star experience.

The trade-off is doing more yourself: online registration and access codes are central to arrival, and housekeeping is on request rather than a daily default. Several Expedia guests also wish their rooms had more comfortable seating, so check the specific layout before booking. Expect a refundable damage deposit and paid off-site parking. We'd skip it if you want full-service pampering or dislike digital check-in.

• Best for: independent couples; longer stays with cooking and laundry; exploring Old Montreal on foot

• Watch out for: online registration and code-based access; housekeeping on request; limited lounge seating in some layouts

• Location: Walkable Old Montreal setting near restaurants, Notre-Dame Basilica and the convention centre.

• Rooms: Spacious, minimalist studios and lofts with comfortable beds; seating varies by layout.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Self-service model with generally well-reviewed support; do not expect traditional full-service hospitality.

• Amenities: Full kitchens, in-room laundry, Wi-Fi and an elevator; Booking.com lists Mare restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Refundable damage deposit required; off-site parking and requested housekeeping cost extra.
