Apartment practicality and standout hospitality make Boxotel a strong choice for longer Montreal stays. a contemporary 4-star apartment-style boutique hotel, scored for what it is.

Boxotel is a contemporary 4-star apartment-style boutique hotel, and a strong pick if you want more independence than a conventional room provides. Kitchens, in-room laundry and adaptable furniture make longer stays genuinely practical. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The Quartier des Spectacles location suits exploring on foot or by metro, while the rooftop hot tub, sauna and steam room add a welcome extra.

The trade-off is a less traditional hotel experience: reception has limited hours, and missing access-code emails recur in guest reports, so confirm arrival instructions beforehand. Some guests also find the automated room controls frustrating. There’s no restaurant, and parking is in a paid public lot across the street; the hotel’s FAQ still warns about thefts recorded there in 2024. We’d skip it if round-the-clock staffed reception or secure on-site parking matters most.

• Best for: couples on longer city stays; travelers who cook and do laundry; arts and festival visitors

• Watch out for: confirm access codes before arrival; limited reception hours; public parking with a published theft warning

• Location: Walkable Quartier des Spectacles base near Saint-Laurent and Berri-UQAM metro stations.

• Rooms: Well-equipped studios and lofts with kitchens, laundry and automated controls; request an opaque bathroom if privacy matters.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent reviews, with particularly strong Expedia cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Staff receive repeated warm praise, but reception is not staffed around the clock.

• Amenities: Rooftop hot tub, sauna, steam room and gym; complimentary coffee and tea, but no restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Security deposit required; public parking, pets and requested housekeeping carry charges; confirm current terms.
