#4 of 9 hotels in East Town & Lakefront by Axel's take. East Town & Lakefront is #1 of 5 places to stay in Milwaukee. The best hotels in East Town & Lakefront, ranked · Where to stay in Milwaukee

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong downtown pick for spacious rooms and independence, rather than full-service pampering. An upscale boutique guesthouse with private rooms and shared kitchens, scored for what it is.

Kinn is an upscale, 31-room boutique guesthouse that mixes private, en-suite rooms with shared kitchens and living areas. We'd put it high on the list for an independent Milwaukee stay: Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and generous rooms, while Tripadvisor reviewers appreciate the communal spaces. The walkable location near the Third Ward and Public Market makes exploring straightforward, and the kitchens are genuinely useful for families or friends booking several rooms.

The trade-off is a less conventional hotel experience. Entry is code-based, housekeeping isn't automatically daily, and recent guests sometimes describe street noise. The hotel now advertises round-the-clock front-desk staffing, though some reviewers found texting more effective than calling. Parking costs extra in a nearby garage. We'd skip it if you want hushed surroundings, daily room servicing or traditional full-service luxury.

  • Best for: Independent city-break travelers; Families and friends booking multiple rooms; Longer stays with kitchen access

  • Watch out for: Street noise in some rooms; Housekeeping isn't automatically daily; Paid parking in a nearby garage

  • Location: Walkable downtown base near the Third Ward, Public Market, restaurants and streetcar stops.

  • Rooms: Spacious, individually decorated rooms with private bathrooms; comfortable beds draw repeated praise.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor reviews.

  • Service: Helpful staff are frequently praised; code-based access and text messaging shape the experience.

  • Amenities: Shared chef-style kitchens and lounges, an onsite gym, laundry facilities and ground-floor dining.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and dog stays cost extra; Expedia lists a damage deposit, and pet restrictions differ between sites.
