#8 of 9 hotels in Porta Romana by Axel's take. Porta Romana is #9 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Porta Romana, ranked · Where to stay in Milan

Axel's take: 7.8/10

Strong for meeting people, less convincing on bathroom upkeep. A sociable budget hostel with a lively bar near Porta Romana, scored for what it is.

QUO Milano is a sociable budget hostel, not a conventional hotel, and we'd choose it for meeting people rather than escaping them. Its bar, karaoke and communal kitchen give solo travelers an easy way into the crowd. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while nearby trams make sightseeing straightforward. Dorm beds have privacy curtains, lights and sockets; private rooms are also available.

The weak spot is bathroom consistency: recent Hostelworld and Expedia guests report dirty showers, mold or poor ventilation, despite generally positive overall cleanliness ratings. October 2026 reviews also flag small lockers and worn curtains. There is no elevator, so stairs matter with heavy luggage. It's a good option for outgoing backpackers; we'd skip it for a quiet retreat or reliably spotless shared facilities.

  • Best for: Solo travelers wanting company; Backpackers who cook; Travelers who enjoy hostel events

  • Watch out for: Recurring shared-shower cleanliness complaints; Stairs with no elevator; Small lockers and worn dorm curtains

  • Location: Near Porta Romana, with tram stops close by and central sights within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Mixed and female-only dorms plus private rooms; curtained bunks are useful, but recent guests flag wear.

  • Cleanliness: Positive overall ratings, undermined by recent cross-site complaints about showers and ventilation.

  • Service: Usually praised as welcoming and helpful, though some October 2026 guests report rude interactions.

  • Amenities: Communal kitchen, social bar, karaoke, free Wi-Fi and luggage storage on arrival and departure days.

  • Fees and surprises: City tax is extra where applicable; Expedia lists breakfast and towel charges, so check inclusions.
