#9 of 9 hotels in Porta Romana by Axel's take. Porta Romana is #9 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Porta Romana, ranked · Where to stay in Milan

Axel's take: 7.6/10

A practical Milan base with friendly staff, but dated rooms temper its four-star promise. an old-school 4-star near Bocconi and Crocetta metro, scored for what it is.

Crivi’s is an old-school 4-star near Bocconi University: a good, practical base rather than a stylish Milan stay. Booking.com and Expedia guests generally praise cleanliness, helpful staff and convenient transport, while recent Tripadvisor reviews reinforce those strengths. We'd choose it for university visits or sightseeing with easy metro access, provided traditional furnishings don't bother you.

The recurring drawback is age: guests across sites describe dated furniture and rooms that don't quite meet modern four-star expectations. Several recent reviews also report weak Wi-Fi, so business travelers should have a backup connection. Breakfast gets mixed feedback, and parking costs extra; check whether breakfast is included in your booking. We'd skip it if fresh interiors and dependable connectivity matter more than location and personable service.

  • Best for: Bocconi University visitors; metro-based city breaks; travelers comfortable with traditional interiors

  • Watch out for: dated rooms and furnishings; recurring weak Wi-Fi reports; paid parking and potentially extra breakfast

  • Location: Handy for Bocconi and Crocetta metro, with nearby trams; not directly beside the Duomo.

  • Rooms: Traditional furnishings are consistently described as dated, though many guests find rooms comfortable.

  • Cleanliness: Generally a strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff earn repeated praise across sites.

  • Amenities: Buffet breakfast, bar, free Wi-Fi and business facilities; breakfast quality divides guests.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is paid and limited; breakfast may cost extra, and city tax is payable at the property.
