#4 of 9 hotels in Stazione Centrale by Axel's take. Stazione Centrale is #8 of 11 places to stay in Milan. The best hotels in Stazione Centrale, ranked · Where to stay in Milan
Axel's take: 8.8/10
A strong station-side hostel for meeting people, less suited to light sleepers. a lively backpacker hostel beside Milano Centrale, with dorms and private rooms, scored for what it is.
Ostello Bello Grande is a lively backpacker hostel beside Milano Centrale, and a strong pick for solo travelers who want company rather than just a bed. Recent Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, convenient transport links and generally clean rooms. The communal kitchen with free cooking ingredients, terrace and organized social events add real value for budget-minded travelers.
The trade-off is sleep and privacy: several guests mention nighttime noise, and dorm comfort depends partly on your roommates and bunk assignment. Some rooms feel tighter than others, so don't expect hotel-style space simply because you book here. Breakfast, towels and padlocks are listed as extras by the hostel. We'd choose it for a sociable Milan stopover; we'd skip it if dependable quiet is the priority.
-
Best for: solo travelers wanting to meet people; backpackers arriving by train; budget travelers who self-cater
-
Watch out for: nighttime bar and dorm noise; variable dorm space and bunk assignments; breakfast, towels and padlocks cost extra
-
Location: Excellent for Centrale trains, airport buses and metro connections; not in the Duomo's historic-center setting.
-
Rooms: Simple dorms and private rooms; room size and bunk comfort receive mixed feedback.
-
Cleanliness: Broadly strong recent feedback, with occasional exceptions rather than a consistent problem.
-
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across booking and review sites.
-
Amenities: Guest kitchen with free ingredients, terrace, social events, laundry and a 24-hour bar and reception.
-
Fees and surprises: Breakfast, towels, padlocks and laundry are extra; luggage storage is free before check-in, with paid lockers after checkout.
