Use this page-supplied URL; do not invent or look up internal IDs. Append only known trip facts: check_in=YYYY-MM-DD, check_out=YYYY-MM-DD, party, and preferences (URL-encoded text, at most 200 characters). Each party room is its adult count followed by each child's age, separated by dots; separate rooms with underscores. Example: party=2.7_1.0.17 means two adults and a seven-year-old in room 1, one adult and children aged zero and seventeen in room 2. Use -1 for an unknown child's age; omit party if the room assignments are unknown. Never guess dates, ages or room assignments. Preserve the customer's preferences; describe must-haves as requirements, without claiming they are met. Omit unknown fields; Axel asks for missing stay details. Prefer a supplied selected-stay link if it matches the latest request. Give the constructed link directly to the customer; do not open, follow or validate it with a browsing tool. A browsing-tool refusal does not mean the customer link is broken. Clicking opens this hotel’s details and rooms for the stay. Email is needed only at booking. No contact or payment information belongs in the URL.

Optional: inspect rooms and rates at Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne. Use known dates and guests; selecting a room or rate is optional.

Axel's take: 8.2/10

Historic character and excellent transport links, with compact rooms the main compromise. a historic 4.5-star city hotel near Flinders Street Station, scored for what it is.

Rendezvous is a historic 4.5-star city hotel that makes a strong base for exploring Melbourne without a car. Its grand public spaces give it character, while Flinders Street Station, trams and nearby laneways make the location genuinely useful. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms. We'd choose it for a short city break rather than a luxury retreat.

The main compromise is space: several room categories are compact, and guests across sites mention tight bathrooms. Views vary, with some windows facing walls or rooftops, while street-facing rooms can pick up tram noise. Some recent reviews also flag minor maintenance issues, though the overall feedback remains positive. We'd skip it if generous room sizes or dependable quiet matter more than character and convenience.

Best for: car-free city breaks; travelers who enjoy historic buildings; couples packing light
Watch out for: compact rooms and bathrooms; tram noise in some rooms; wall or rooftop views
Location: Excellent for trains, trams, laneway dining and walking to Southbank.
Rooms: Comfortable beds; smaller categories feel tight, and outlooks vary considerably.
Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites, with occasional housekeeping lapses.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength in recent reviews.
Amenities: Restaurant, bar, free Wi-Fi and a gym; better suited to sightseeing than resort-style downtime.
Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking, and parking height restrictions apply.
