Axel's take: 7.3/10

Useful apartments near Epworth and the MCG, but upkeep and service are uneven. a practical mid-range serviced-apartment hotel in Richmond, scored for what it is.

Adara Richmond is a practical mid-range apartment hotel rather than a polished four-star stay. Its strongest argument is location: opposite Epworth Hospital, near Bridge Road’s cafés and trams, and within walking distance of the MCG. Kitchens or kitchenettes and in-room laundry make it useful for longer visits. Expedia guests frequently praise the space, helpful reception staff and value; overall feedback there is considerably stronger than on Booking.com or Tripadvisor.

The compromise is consistency. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews flag worn fittings and bathrooms needing deeper cleaning, while several Tripadvisor guests report access problems when reception is unattended. Parking costs extra, spaces are limited and manoeuvring can be tight. An April 2026 guest reported the gym closed for renovations; reopening remains unverified. We’d consider it for self-catering convenience, but skip it if spotless presentation, dependable staffed arrivals or a guaranteed gym matter most.

  • Best for: Epworth Hospital visitors; self-catering longer stays; MCG trips without a car

  • Watch out for: uneven cleaning and maintenance; limited reception and after-hours access problems; tight paid parking; gym reopening unverified

  • Location: Opposite Epworth, close to Bridge Road dining and trams, with the MCG walkable.

  • Rooms: Useful apartment layouts with cooking and laundry facilities, but some recent guests report worn or faulty fittings.

  • Cleanliness: Many positive reports, offset by repeated recent complaints about bathrooms and incomplete cleaning.

  • Service: Staff often earn praise, but unattended reception and key-access failures recur in Tripadvisor reports.

  • Amenities: Wi-Fi, cooking facilities and in-room laundry; an April 2026 guest reported a renovation-related gym closure.

  • Fees and surprises: Limited paid parking requires advance confirmation; Booking.com also lists a damage deposit and card surcharges.
