Axel's take: 8.2/10

A comfortable El Poblado base, though service does not always match its upscale ambitions. an upscale, full-service business hotel in El Poblado, scored for what it is.

Medellín Marriott is an upscale, full-service business hotel on El Poblado’s Golden Mile, and a strong pick for travelers who favor comfort over boutique character. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, welcoming staff and breakfast; Tripadvisor guests also appreciate the walkable access to malls and restaurants. The outdoor pool, gym and spa round out a practical city base.

The reservation is consistency rather than comfort. Several Tripadvisor guests describe slow check-in, uneven housekeeping follow-through and disappointing handling of billing or elite benefits, although newer Expedia feedback is markedly warmer. We'd choose it for business trips or straightforward sightseeing, not a special-occasion luxury stay. Check breakfast and lounge inclusions, and confirm visitor rules before inviting anyone upstairs.

• Best for: business travelers; visitors wanting malls and restaurants nearby; travelers who prefer full-service chain hotels

• Watch out for: uneven front-desk follow-through; breakfast and lounge access depend on booking; confirm visitor charges in advance

• Location: Golden Mile location in El Poblado, convenient for shopping and restaurants; not immediately beside the metro.

• Rooms: Comfortable rooms with city views; standard rooms are practical rather than especially spacious.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness feedback, with occasional complaints about housekeeping replenishment.

• Service: Many guests praise individual staff, but check-in, billing and request handling receive mixed reports.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, spa and dining; Marriott lists a separate charge for the whirlpool.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking is complimentary; verify breakfast, lounge and Wi-Fi inclusions and any visitor fees.
