Axel's take: 8.8/10

A comfortable El Poblado base, provided you don't mind the uphill return. a modern mid-range boutique hotel in leafy El Poblado, scored for what it is.

Lettera is a modern mid-range boutique hotel on a leafy residential street in El Poblado, close enough to Provenza's restaurants without sitting amid the nightlife. It's a strong pick for travelers who prioritize cleanliness, comfort and helpful staff over a party atmosphere. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise those basics, while balcony rooms and the terrace add appealing views. We'd put it high on the shortlist for a quieter Medellín stay.

The main compromise is the hill: walking out is easier than walking back, and recent guests recommend taxis for the return. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, but limited variety recurs on Tripadvisor and Expedia. We'd skip it if flat, effortless walking is essential. Confirm gym availability and step-free access directly; published amenity information and guest accounts don't fully agree.

• Best for: couples wanting a quieter El Poblado base; travelers prioritizing clean, comfortable rooms; visitors happy to use taxis

• Watch out for: steep uphill return from restaurants; breakfast variety divides opinion; confirm gym availability and elevator access

• Location: Leafy residential setting near Provenza and Lleras Park; the uphill return is the recurring drawback.

• Rooms: Modern, air-conditioned rooms with desks; selected categories have balconies, and guests regularly praise comfort.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across sources, including Booking.com's 9.7 cleanliness rating.

• Service: Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests overwhelmingly praise helpful, welcoming staff.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, garden, terrace and included buffet breakfast; gym listings conflict with earlier closure reports.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; Expedia lists no elevator, but guest accounts mention one, so verify accessibility.
