Axel's take: 6.1/10

Useful downtown access, but unreliable basics make this a cautious budget choice. a no-frills 3-star in Medellín’s busy downtown, scored for what it is.

Hotel Vía 45 Centro is a no-frills 3-star for travelers who prioritize downtown access over polish. San Antonio metro, shopping streets and central sights are nearby, and guests often praise helpful reception staff. Some find the simple rooms clean and good for the price. We'd consider it for a short, practical stay, rather than a relaxing Medellín base.

The sticking point is reliability: numerous 2025–2026 Expedia guests report no hot water, including in rooms sold with hot tubs, and a Trip.com guest independently flags the same problem. Cleanliness gets mixed feedback, with some reports of stained bedding and pests; maintenance and Wi-Fi also draw complaints. Guests repeatedly express reservations about the surrounding streets after dark. We'd skip it for a first-time family visit or if dependable showers and quiet nights matter.

• Best for: budget travelers familiar with downtown; short shopping or transit stays

• Watch out for: repeated reports of no hot water; uneven cleanliness and maintenance; noise and after-dark location concerns

• Location: Convenient for San Antonio metro and central sights; guests are less comfortable with the surrounding streets at night.

• Rooms: Simple private-bathroom rooms; fans in basic categories, with air conditioning and private hot tubs advertised in upgrades.

• Cleanliness: Mixed: clean rooms and common areas earn praise, but bedding, bathroom and pest complaints recur.

• Service: Helpful staff receive regular praise, though some recent guests describe poor handling of maintenance problems.

• Amenities: 24-hour reception, elevator, terrace and advertised free Wi-Fi; guests report unreliable connectivity and hot water.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm visitor charges and pet rules before booking; listings disagree on pets, and the official checkout time is noon.
