Axel's take: 8.4/10

A stylish Medellín base with strong amenities, but rooms trade space for design. a modern, design-led 4-star in Manila, El Poblado, scored for what it is.

Heiss is a modern, design-led 4-star in Manila, El Poblado, and a strong pick for travelers who prioritize location and shared spaces over a roomy bedroom. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, helpful staff and nearby restaurants. The rooftop pool, city views and gym give it more appeal than a straightforward city base, particularly for short stays.

The catch is room size: the hotel lists standard rooms at just 16 square meters, and guests across several sites describe limited luggage space. Noise between rooms and from corridors is another recurring complaint, so we'd skip it for light sleepers or longer stays with substantial luggage. Check whether breakfast is included, rather than assuming it comes with the room; there is no on-site parking.

• Best for: solo travelers packing light; couples on short city breaks; travelers who value a pool and gym

• Watch out for: compact rooms and limited luggage space; internal noise and uneven soundproofing; breakfast inclusion varies by booking

• Location: Restaurant-rich Manila location in El Poblado, roughly a 10–15-minute walk from Poblado metro.

• Rooms: Modern and comfortable, but standard rooms are only 16 square meters; choose the category carefully.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff earn frequent praise, though problem handling is not universally consistent.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, gym, dining options and massage spa; the pool is better for a dip than serious swimming.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; minibar items and pets carry charges, and no on-site parking is offered.
