Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong luxury pick for spacious suites, gardens and pool time near the medina. a traditional five-star, all-suite palace resort in Hivernage, scored for what it is.

Es Saadi’s Palace is a traditional five-star, all-suite resort in Hivernage, distinct from the separate Es Saadi Hotel on the same estate. It’s a strong pick if you want sightseeing balanced with proper resort downtime. Junior suites start at a generous 70 square meters, while the gardens, enormous lagoon pool and substantial spa give you reasons to stay put. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, spacious accommodation and welcoming staff.

The trade-offs are mostly about consistency and atmosphere. Some recent guests describe service lapses, although repeat visitors also report improvement. The estate’s casino and Theatro nightclub can complicate evening taxi access; this isn’t a completely secluded retreat. Book spa treatments ahead, and note that spa access is restricted to guests aged 16 and over. We’d skip it for an intimate medina stay, but choose it for space, swimming and traditional luxury.

• Best for: couples combining sightseeing and pool time; families wanting spacious accommodation; spa-focused breaks

• Watch out for: busy evening access around casino and nightclub; occasional service inconsistencies; spa restricted to ages 16 and over

• Location: Hivernage, outside the medina: convenient for sightseeing without staying among the souks.

• Rooms: Palace accommodation is all-suite, with junior suites starting at 70 square meters and traditionally decorative interiors.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia, despite occasional individual housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff dominate feedback; occasional lapses remain, with some repeat guests noting improvement.

• Amenities: Large lagoon pool, extensive spa, gym and restaurants; casino and Theatro nightclub share the estate.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a city tax and charges for airport transfers and extra beds; parking is free.
