Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong BGC luxury pick, especially if you’ll use the outstanding fitness facilities. a modern 5-star city hotel in Bonifacio Global City, scored for what it is.

Shangri-La The Fort is a modern 5-star city hotel that makes a convincing case for staying in BGC. We'd choose it for spacious rooms, dependable cleanliness and restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise thoughtful staff and comfortable rooms; the breakfast buffet and extensive Kerry Sports facilities give it an edge for travelers who want more than somewhere to sleep.

The trade-offs are mostly about inclusions and priorities rather than failing basics. Breakfast isn't included with every booking, and airport transfers cost extra. Wi-Fi earns weaker feedback than the rooms and service, with occasional reports of slow connections. It's a strong fit for an active city stay, but we'd skip it if you only need a comfortable base and won't use the facilities.

• Best for: business travelers based in BGC; fitness-focused travelers; families wanting pools and nearby dining

• Watch out for: breakfast inclusion varies by booking; occasional slow Wi-Fi; airport transfers cost extra

• Location: Central BGC, with Bonifacio High Street shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.

• Rooms: Spacious contemporary rooms; guests consistently praise comfortable beds and city views.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Recent guests repeatedly describe helpful, attentive staff and thoughtful housekeeping.

• Amenities: Extensive Kerry Sports facilities, outdoor pools, multiple restaurants and an indoor children's playground.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusions; airport transfers and some early or late check-in arrangements incur charges.
