#6 of 7 hotels in South Plains Mall & Slide Road by Axel's take. South Plains Mall & Slide Road is #4 of 6 places to stay in Lubbock, Texas. The best hotels in South Plains Mall & Slide Road, ranked · Where to stay in Lubbock, Texas

Axel's take: 6.5/10

Generous room sizes and useful basics, but housekeeping and maintenance are too uneven. a budget, limited-service hotel with spacious rooms in southwest Lubbock, scored for what it is.

Lubbock West Inn & Suites is a budget, limited-service hotel whose biggest selling point is space. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the large rooms, comfortable beds and included breakfast; some suites add balconies or kitchen facilities. It can work for a short, practical stay if room size matters more than polish, particularly when you have a car.

The catch is consistency. Alongside plenty of satisfied guests, reviews across sites describe dirty bathrooms, worn fixtures and missing room supplies. Elevator problems recur through September 2026, including reports of an elevator being out of service, so confirm access before booking an upper floor. Staff earn warm praise from many guests, but complaint handling is less dependable. We'd skip it if reliable cleanliness or step-free access is nonnegotiable.

Best for: budget-minded travelers with a car; travelers prioritizing extra room space
Watch out for: inconsistent bathroom cleaning; recurring elevator problems; worn fixtures and missing supplies
Location: Southwest Lubbock; a practical driving base rather than a walkable campus stay.
Rooms: Unusually spacious for a budget hotel; some suites have balconies or kitchens, but upkeep varies.
Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but repeated bathroom and bedding complaints undermine reliability.
Service: Often friendly and helpful; responses to room problems and billing disputes receive mixed feedback.
Amenities: Breakfast, Wi-Fi, a gym and seasonal outdoor pool are listed; confirm elevator availability.
Fees and surprises: Best Western lists free parking, while Expedia lists a surcharge; confirm parking terms directly.
