Hotels in Lubbock, TexasA straightforward 3-star chain hotel near Texas Tech and Lubbock’s medical centers
7.3/10
Useful location and good basics, but housekeeping and maintenance need more consistency.
This straightforward 3-star Wingate is a practical option for Texas Tech or hospital visits, especially with a car. Free breakfast, parking and WiFi make it good value, and rooms include a microwave and mini-fridge. Booking.com and Travelocity guests often praise comfortable beds, convenient access and helpful staff; overall guest ratings remain solid.
The reservation is consistency. Alongside recent clean-room praise, Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe stained bedding, dirty bathrooms and worn carpets. Maintenance complaints include malfunctioning elevators, while several Booking.com guests reported a nonworking hot tub in early 2026 despite Wyndham still advertising it. These problems are not universal, but they make this less dependable than its amenities suggest. We’d consider it for a short, practical stay and skip it if reliably spotless rooms or pool facilities are priorities.

Best for: Texas Tech visitors with a car; Hospital visitors; Value-minded short stays
Watch out for: Uneven housekeeping; Recurring maintenance complaints; Confirm hot-tub operation before booking
Location: Convenient for university and medical visits, with restaurants nearby; better suited to drivers than campus walkers.
Rooms: Comfortable beds and useful microwaves and mini-fridges; some guests report stained furnishings and equipment faults.
Cleanliness: Many positive reports, but repeated recent complaints about bedding and bathrooms undermine consistency.
Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise, though problem handling and reception receive some criticism.
Amenities: Free breakfast, WiFi and parking, plus a gym and advertised indoor pool and hot tub; hot-tub reliability is uncertain.
Fees and surprises: Early check-in and late checkout can cost extra; pets are not accepted apart from service animals.
