Axel's take: 8.3/10
A strong MSU base for kitchen-equipped stays, but not for walkable dining. A simple 3-star extended-stay hotel on MSU’s south campus, scored for what it is.
Candlewood Suites East Lansing is a simple 3-star extended-stay hotel on MSU’s south campus, attached to the Henry Center. It’s a strong pick if you want practical comforts rather than a full-service hotel: equipped kitchens, free laundry and free parking make longer visits easier. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and friendly staff, while the quieter, golf-course setting suits university visits and work trips.
The trade-off is convenience outside the hotel. Shops and restaurants aren’t an easy walk, and some guests on Tripadvisor and Expedia describe the rooms as dated. There’s no breakfast service or hotel pool, and IHG specifies weekly housekeeping rather than daily cleaning. We’d skip it if you want fresh design, walk-out nightlife or a pool for the kids.
