Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong Victoria Island choice for spacious rooms, warm service and substantial facilities. a large luxury business hotel on Victoria Island, scored for what it is.

Lagos Continental is a large luxury business hotel on Victoria Island, and we'd shortlist it for comfortable rooms and a well-equipped base between meetings. Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the generous room sizes, helpful staff and varied breakfast. The fifth-floor infinity pool, spa and round-the-clock gym give it appeal beyond business trips, while higher rooms offer broad city or water views.

The reservations are about consistency rather than missing facilities. Some guests report maintenance niggles or uneven responsiveness, and a recent Expedia guest described musty smells in two rooms, although cleanliness feedback overall remains strongly positive. We'd choose it for business or a city break with plenty of facilities on site; we'd skip it if flawless luxury service or a beach-resort setting is essential.

• Best for: Victoria Island business trips; Travelers who prioritize spacious rooms; City breaks with pool and spa time

• Watch out for: Occasional maintenance and musty-room reports; Service can be uneven; Not a beachfront resort

• Location: Victoria Island base with strongly rated convenience; city and water views rather than beachfront grounds.

• Rooms: Generously sized rooms earn consistent praise; occasional equipment and maintenance issues remain.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, tempered by some musty-smell reports and isolated cleaning misses.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a recurring strength, with occasional responsiveness and administrative lapses.

• Amenities: Fifth-floor infinity pool, spa, 24-hour gym, multiple dining outlets and extensive meeting facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; airport transfers, early check-in and late checkout cost extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
