Axel's take: 7.6/10

Comfortable casino convenience, but upkeep and service don't consistently match the four-star billing. a full-service casino hotel outside downtown Kansas City, scored for what it is.

Argosy is a full-service casino hotel in Riverside, best chosen for an easy casino night rather than a luxury escape. We'd consider it for spacious rooms, comfortable beds and dining without leaving the property. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and friendly staff, and its overall ratings remain solid. Free self-parking adds practical appeal.

The caveat is consistency: Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests describe tired rooms, maintenance problems and uneven help when something goes wrong. Those reports don't outweigh the many good stays, but they weaken the four-star proposition. There's also a nightly amenity fee, and guests report that the former spa is closed. We'd skip it for a spa break or a walkable downtown stay; it makes more sense when the casino is the point.

Best for: casino-focused weekenders; couples wanting dining on site; travelers arriving by car
Watch out for: uneven room upkeep and problem handling; nightly amenity fee; former spa reported closed
Location: Convenient for the casino and highway access, not for exploring downtown on foot.
Rooms: Generous space and comfortable beds draw praise; wear and maintenance complaints recur.
Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is strongly positive, though Tripadvisor includes housekeeping lapses.
Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, but resolving problems appears less dependable.
Amenities: Casino, restaurants and fitness facilities; guests report the former spa is closed.
Fees and surprises: Free self-parking; nightly amenity fee and an incidental card hold; primary guest must be 21 or older.
